Figure 1: Aspirate from the liver of a 2 year old cat with copper toxicity

In this prestained smear, small amounts of pigment is discernible within hepatocytes (arrow), however the pigment is less obvious than in the Wright’s-stained smear (Diff-quik, 100x objective). This pigment could be readily overlooked. A binucleated hepatocyte suggests a regenerative response.
