This graph shows sequential changes in SAP (serum Alkaline phosphatase) and GGT (Gamma-glutamyl transferase) over time in a cat diagnosed with hepatic lipidosis. ALP activity increases before GGT, which takes longer to rise, resulting in the typical changes seen in cats with lipidosis (high ALT, AST and ALP activity with normal GGT activity with or without hyperbilirubinemia – note these changes are not specific for hepatic lipidosis and can be seen with other disorders, for instance mild increases in ALT, AST and ALP activity are seen in cats with hyperthyroidism).
