There is merging of the lymphocyte, basophil and neutrophil clusters (red circle) and a prominent expansion of cells classified as monocytes (red events). This finding should raise questions about the accuracy of the differential count and in this case, provide an index of suspicion that there may be a left shift and toxic change. Furthermore, a basophilia, albeit mild, would be unexpected in this case.
