Figure 2: The impression smear of the post-mortem bone marrow from the steer with pancytopenia (blood shown in Figure 1) consists of fat (large refractile, circular to variably shaped globules). No hematopoietic cells are evident. The lack of bone marrow cells is compatible with a bone marrow aplasia (Wright’s stain, 100x magnification)
