A very large (macro) platelet (arrow) in a dog with immune-mediated thrombocytopenia. Such large platelets are often considered immature and in a dog with presumptive immune thrombocytopenia suggest a bone marrow response (megakaryocytic hyperplasia or increased platelet production) (modified Wright’s stain, 100x objective).
