Figure 1: The dominant leukocytes in peripheral blood are small cells with high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratios, characteristic of small lymphocytes. A single large lymphocyte (arrow), heterophil (H), basophil (B), monocyte (M) and thrombocyte (T) are also evident in this image (250x magnification).
