Figure 1a. Peripheral blood from a dog

Peripheral blood from a dog shows numerous small to (mostly) intermediate-sized blasts (counted as “other” white blood cells) with high N:C ratios and small amounts of mid-blue cytoplasm. Nuclei are round to cleaved with fine to lacy chromatin and indistinct nucleoli. Platelets are mildly to moderately decreased. (Wright’s stain, 50x)
