Cytauxzooon felis

Cytauxzooon felis infection in a cat. This organism concurrently causes an anemia of inflammatory disease so the anemia is non-regenerative. The organism is found as ring forms within red blood cells (the arrow is pointing to a red blood cell with two organisms). Cats often have inflammatory leukograms, as seen by the toxic neutrophil (folded nucleus, but likely a band neutrophil, arrowhead) and thrombocytopenia (modified Wright stain).
