The plasma of this bird has a marked lipid layer, which floated to the top of the plasma layer during centrifugation. The lipid is compatible with portomicrons, the avian equivalent of chylomicrons. The marked lipemia in this bird was likely diet-related. The biochemical panel did not show any evidence of liver disease, but underlying fatty liver disease cannot be ruled out.
