The short arrow shows a neoplastic blast containing an erythrocyte in the cytoplasm (apparent phagocytosis). The long arrow indicates a multinucleated neoplastic cell with rowed separate-appearing nuclei (dysplastic megakaryocyte). The cytoplasm of this cell is more mature and resembles that of platelets. Note the large elongate platelet next to the dysplastic megakaryocyte (Wright’s stain, 100x objective).
