Note the numerous pleomorphic (ring to racquet to spindled) Theileria organisms on the red blood cells (arrows). A few small spherocyte-like cells were also identified (arrowhead), which was attributed to fragmentation injury, given the other red blood cell changes (keratocytes, acanthocytes). A nucleated red blood cell (nRBC) and lymphocyte (small to intermediate, Lymph) are also depicted. Modified Wright’s stain, 100x objective
